Elizaveta Malone, Founder of EZ Elopements, was recently featured in Bold Journey in a conversation about purpose, entrepreneurship, experience design, and the deeper meaning behind creating intentional elopement experiences.

The feature gave me the opportunity to reflect on how this business began, what continues to guide it, and why I’ve always believed intimate weddings and elopements should feel personal, intentional, and deeply connected to the couple at the center of the experience.

In the interview, I shared how my purpose developed gradually, long before I realized I was building a business around it. Looking back, the common thread was never only photography or weddings. It was always people, experiences, logistics, storytelling, and the way meaningful moments are felt and remembered.

Today, that purpose continues through EZ Elopements, an experience-driven elopement and micro-wedding company that has helped bring more than 1,250 intimate weddings and elopements to life across the U.S. and internationally.

Why This Bold Journey Feature Felt Meaningful to Elizaveta Malone

This interview felt special because it gave me space to talk about the heart behind the work.

A lot of people see elopements from the outside and think first about the location, the photos, the timeline, or the logistics. All of those things matter, of course. But to me, the deeper work has always been about how the experience feels.

Before there is a timeline, there is a couple trying to make a meaningful decision.

Before there is a location, there is usually a feeling they are trying to create.

Before there are details, there is a story.

That is what I love most about this work. It asks us to pay attention to the emotional side and the practical side at the same time. It asks us to understand what matters to each couple, what they want to avoid, what they are nervous about, what they are hoping to remember, and what kind of experience will actually feel true to them.

For me, that is where experience design begins.

Elopements Are Not Just Events. They Are Experiences.

One of the biggest ideas I shared in the Bold Journey feature is that I never saw this work as just documenting or planning wedding days.

Over time, I realized I was designing experiences around people’s stories.

That distinction matters.

An elopement is not simply a smaller wedding. It is not a shortcut or a stripped-down version of something traditional. When designed thoughtfully, an elopement can be one of the most intentional ways to get married.

It gives couples permission to ask better questions:

  • What do we actually want this day to feel like?
  • Where do we feel most connected?
  • Who do we want present, if anyone?
  • What traditions feel meaningful to us?
  • What expectations are we ready to release?
  • How can this experience reflect who we are, instead of what we feel pressured to perform?

At EZ Elopements, we often work with couples who want something deeply personal but are unsure how to bring it to life. They may know they want privacy, adventure, family connection, a beautiful destination, or a calmer experience, but they do not always know how to shape those ideas into a clear plan.

That is where guidance, structure, and experience matter.

The Role of Structure in a Personal Wedding Experience

For Elizaveta Malone, experience design has always meant balancing the emotional side of a wedding with the structure needed to make the day feel calm, supported, and deeply personal.

Something I’ve become more passionate about over the years is the relationship between creativity and systems.

At first, people sometimes assume systems make an experience feel less personal. I have found the opposite to be true.

When structure is built with intention, it creates more room for personalization.

Clear systems help reduce overwhelm. They help couples understand their options. They make communication easier. They create smoother timelines, better decision-making, stronger vendor coordination, and more space for the couple to actually be present in the experience.

A calm wedding day rarely happens by accident.

It is created through thoughtful preparation, emotional awareness, and a clear understanding of what needs to happen behind the scenes so the couple can simply live the moment.

This is a big part of how EZ Elopements has grown. As we expanded and began working with couples across the U.S. and internationally, I became more focused on building systems that allowed our experiences to remain personal while also becoming more scalable and consistent.

That balance continues to shape my work as a founder, educator, and systems strategist for creative service-based businesses.

What Elizaveta Malone Has Learned From 1,250+ Weddings

After helping create more than 1,250 intimate weddings and elopements, one thing has become very clear:

No two couples are the same.

Some couples want adventure and dramatic landscapes. Some want quiet privacy. Some want their families close. Some want something nontraditional, simple, spiritual, emotional, playful, or completely unexpected.

The role of an elopement expert is not to force those couples into a template.

The role is to listen carefully, notice patterns, ask the right questions, simplify the process, and help design an experience that feels aligned with who they are.

That is why emotional intelligence has become such an important part of my work. Wedding planning is not only logistical. It is emotional. Couples are making decisions around family, identity, budget, expectations, travel, memories, and sometimes even grief or complicated relationships.

The way they are guided through that process matters.

People may not remember every single logistical detail, but they remember how they felt throughout the experience. They remember whether they felt calm, heard, rushed, overwhelmed, supported, or truly taken care of.

That belief has shaped how I think about client experience, team communication, and the systems behind the scenes at EZ Elopements.

Adaptability, Emotional Intelligence, and Pattern Recognition

In the Bold Journey interview, I was asked about the three skills or qualities that have mattered most in my journey.

My answer was:

  • Adaptability
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Pattern recognition

Those three qualities have influenced almost every part of my growth as a founder.

Adaptability

Adaptability matters because entrepreneurship rarely unfolds exactly as planned. Timelines shift. Weather changes. Industries evolve. Client needs change. Personal seasons change. The ability to stay grounded while adjusting is one of the most important skills in both business and life.

Emotional Intelligence

Emotional intelligence matters because service-based work is built on trust. It affects how you communicate, how you lead, how you respond under pressure, and how you help people feel safe during meaningful moments.

Pattern Recognition

Pattern recognition matters because once you begin noticing repeated questions, stress points, decision-making roadblocks, and client needs, you can build better systems around them.

That is where thoughtful growth happens.

Instead of constantly reacting, you begin designing better paths forward.

Building With More Intention

Another part of Elizaveta Malone’s interview focused on growth over the past year.

For me, one of the biggest shifts has been learning how to move from constantly operating inside the business to building more intentionally around the future I want to create.

For a long time, especially during seasons of rapid growth, I was involved in nearly every moving part of the business. I cared deeply about the experience, and because the work is so personal, it was easy for work and life to blend together.

Over time, I realized that constantly operating in reactive mode, even when fueled by passion, is not the same as building sustainably.

That realization changed a lot for me.

Now, I think more deeply about structure, delegation, documentation, education, and the systems that allow both the business and the people within it to thrive long-term.

Growth is not only about doing more.

Sometimes growth is about simplifying.

Sometimes it is about creating clearer systems.

Sometimes it is about protecting the space needed to make better decisions.

And sometimes it is about remembering that building a meaningful business should not require losing yourself in the process.

What’s Next for Elizaveta Malone and EZ Elopements

As EZ Elopements continues to grow, I’m excited about expanding further into education, creative systems, and client experience resources for both couples and creative entrepreneurs.

Over the years, I’ve become increasingly interested in the intersection of storytelling, systems, client psychology, technology, and intentional design.

I believe creative businesses are entering a season where human connection and thoughtful systems will both matter more than ever. AI and automation can support clarity, organization, and efficiency, but they should never replace the trust and emotional intelligence that make service-based work meaningful.

That is a big part of what I hope to explore more in the years ahead through educational content, tools, resources, and future writing projects.

At the center of it all, though, the purpose remains the same:

Helping people feel seen, understood, and connected to one of the most meaningful experiences of their lives.
